Hunters and Shooters Society of Australia’s mission is to promote hunting and shooting as a safe, ethical, fun, inclusive and family friendly sport or recreation.
We do this by maintaining a responsible, lawful, safe and respectful attitude and decorum, via our hunter education courses and our programs such as New to Shooting and Hunters for Habitat.
OUR TEAM
Our team come from diverse backgrounds each bringing a unique knowledge and skill base with them. All members of our team are hunters or shooters and believe in your right to own firearms for sport, hunting, self defence and employment. Due to the wide range of backgrounds and experience within our team we have a full understanding of most hunters and shooters needs.
We see some of the short falls of other clubs, leaving their members feeling isolated or forgotten. Being hunters and shooters ourselves we have the best interest of lawful firearm owners, hunters, shooters, fishers and just your everyday outdoors person at heart.
Each member of the Hunters and Shooters Society of Australia (HSSA) executive team has employment outside of HSSA, meaning it’s not our goal get rich from HSSA. Instead we are here to build a united hunting, shooting, outdoors community to protect our way of life and culture.
Although Hunters and Shooters Society of Australia is not our full-time job it is our full-time passion!

OUR HISTORY
Our team have been involved in the hunting and shooting community since 1985, with combined shooting experience of over 100 years. This shooting experience ranges from hunting, sports shooting, gel blasters, law enforcement, security, corrections and military.
Over the years we watched as it became more difficult to enter the hunting and shooting sports, lawful firearm owners got a stigma somewhat worse than criminals themselves.
We heard our friends and family within the hunting and shooting community voice their concerns of feeling forgotten, undervalued and isolated from the rest of the community, their government and even their gun clubs.
This is when the HSSA executive team decided that we would make change.
We had no idea how to run for Prime Minister of Australia, so we started where we could. First steps were to setup a Facebook page and Instagram with a focus on making hunting normal and displaying the positive sides of the hunting and shooting sports. From there the idea grew. We wanted to make a hunting and shooting club, for hunters, by hunters.
There was hurdles along the way and we are still not quite at our goal but we have made some fantastic progress .
We are now an Approved Weapons Club in Queensland, Approved Hunting Organisation and Hunter LEAP Provider in New South Wales, and are an Approved Hunting Organisation in Victoria.

Further we promote hunting as beneficial to the economy, environment, community, health and conservation of our environment.
We aim to demonstrate to the non hunting community the benefits of hunting by the use of the harvested animal as a fresh, organic, environmentally friendly and sustainable food source.
We aim to demonstrate to the non hunting community the environmental benefits of hunting, such as removing pest animals that either pray on or compete with native animals resulting in the decline of biodiversity and native animal numbers.
By promoting the beneficial sides of hunting and shooting we hope to reduce the stigma surrounding the hunting and shooting sports and gain community support.
This community support can then provide the momentum required to effect positive change to laws surrounding hunting and shooting sports.
We welcome all hunters from Bows to Dogs, Rifles to Rods, as we all share a similar passion.
